Champagne Henriot Millesime 1999 **** (not TJ's - a gift)

Big changes - hence no recent posts. I left my job (they REALLY didn't want me there), am moving, and well, haven't been to Trader Joe's much in the past month. I am planning on stocking up this week though, and will be reviewing again (for as long as I live near a TJ's).

Today's wine was a gift from my friend Phillip Bunting, an amazing antipodean chef who currently hails from Copenhagen. I met Philip years ago when we were both temporarily living in London. We've had many adventures.

Now to the wine. My first sip was sour, and I was apprehensive - but them as I drank my glass, I loved it. It is crisp, fruity and a great champagne. I'd love to do a side by side comparison with my favourite Laurent Perrier - but I can recommend this champagne easily.

As I am exhausting the pantry stores as I anticipate a move in September, the menu today was sparse:

green salad &
vermicelli with fresh pesto

Dessert
Homemade oatmeal cookies & vanilla ice cream

This is a nice, simple meal elevated to a celebration by a great champagne to mark the next chapter in my life.
